Making Gosport a digital peninsula

Gosport Borough Council has utilised its UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation from the Government to deliver resident and business focused digital related initiatives across the town.

For businesses we prioritised supporting local start-ups and SMEs to increase productivity and growth via digital and technology adoption. This has included delivering 1-2-1 mentoring support, workshops and funding the provision of free business websites. As a legacy we have created a free to access on demand library of the digital training workshops that were delivered. 

This business focused support programme has run in parallel with initiatives aimed at residents such as digital inclusion training and facilities, plus activities that encourage pupils to consider STEM related careers and develop digital skills. Therefore this will also help local businesses recruit staff with the skills to operate in a digital world, both now and in the future.

By investing this way in our businesses, people, community and place the aim is to make Gosport a digital peninsula.

Made Smarter Programme

For UK based manufacturing SMEs companies wanting to increase digital technology use within their businesses. Successful applicants will have an on-site assessment by a technical adviser and a jointly agreed digital action plan identifying the technology that will improve their operation.

  • Up to 12 hours of 1-2-1 mentoring with a technical adviser
  • The opportunity to apply for grant funding of up to £20,000 (matched 1:1)
  • Leadership and management support
  • The opportunity recruit a university student for circa 10 weeks (paid for by the programme).
