Budd’s Herbal Medicine in Gosport offers affordable, student‑led herbal medicine consultations for just £20, giving local people access to personalised, holistic care at a fraction of the usual cost.

The clinic is run by medical herbalist Wendy, who has operated a successful Southsea practice for 14 years and normally charges £90 per consultation. After years of training students on an international diploma programme, where they must complete 500 clinical hours, Wendy realised they needed real, supervised experience with real patients. And she saw an opportunity to make that experience genuinely useful to the community.

The Gosport branch opens every Sunday and Monday specifically for the student clinic, where trainees gain hands‑on experience while patients receive high‑quality care under Wendy’s supervision.

“It allows second‑ to fourth‑year students to take hour‑long consultations under my guidance,” Wendy explains. “Patients get a full assessment that covers  medical history, supplements, diet, lifestyle, every system of the body, and they leave with a personalised herbal prescription. Students gain confidence, and patients gain accessible holistic care.”

The clinic has already attracted students from Canada, Qatar, Guernsey and across the UK, all coming to Gosport for real‑world training.

“It’s so important that the next generation of herbalists learn face to face with patients, and the Gosport community are benefitting with the reduced-cost appointment structure,” Wendy says.
