Gosport Coastal Path

The Gosport section of the national England Coast Path is now open.

From Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve the coastal path follows the shoreline to Lee-on-the-Solent and then on to Stokes Bay, and inland around Browndown Military Training Area before heading to Gilkicker Point. This area includes the Browndown Site of Scientific Special Interest (SSSI) and the Gilkicker Lagoon SSSI. Although the lagoons saltiness creates a harsh environment where species have to adapt to survive, five species of mollusc of national rarity live in the lagoons.

The route then heads inland around Fort Monckton and back to the coast around Clayhall before reaching the Gosport Ferry. You then pass the historic Royal Clarence Yard (where you might want to stop off at for a welcome bite to eat and drink!). The route then passes over the Millennium Bridge, past Priddy's Hard and the Explosion Museum and then continues on to Fareham.

The Gosport route takes you through a diverse mix of areas and vistas which offer panoramic coastal views. You will see bustling marinas, impressive heritage buildings and will have plenty of opportunity to see the large impressive ships that enter and leave Portsmouth Harbour on a daily basis
