The award aims to :
- Celebrate the best in Hampshire ‘s eating experiences
- Promote local eateries both to residents and visitors alike
- Promote Hampshire as the home of good food and drink.
All establishments are assessed against a number of aspects including public areas, cleanliness, bar and restaurant, hospitality, food, service and efficiency. Assessors are looking for an excellent ‘all-around’ experience.
In addition to the Hampshire Hospitality marque, establishments can opt to be assessed for a local produce award. This looks at the extent to which locally grown produce features on the menu and the staff’s knowledge about this produce

Bon appetit !
For classic dining;
The Anglesey, The Alverbank and The Old Lodge all date back to the 1800’s and are landmarks in their own right well worth a visit. They each offer a la carte dining in well appointed dining rooms with traditional service and high quality standards.
Bistros;
Pebbles at Stokes Bay, Landers at Haslar Marina and Peppers at the boating lake offer bistro style menus in waterside locations.
Traditional Pub Grub;
Gosport has a wealth of traditional style pubs, (due in no small part to its links with the navy!) nearly all of which offer bar food. Some of those that specialise particularly in what we have all come to know as “Pub Grub” are; The Castle Tavern, The Vine, The White Hart, The Clarence Tavern, The Jolly Roger, The Old Ship, The Inn by the Sea ,The Cocked Hat and The Bun Penny.
For quick reference we have listed below some of the all time favourites together with their telephone numbers. For further information on individual venues please telephone them directly.
